Phnom Penh (Rasmei Kampuchea Daily/ANN) - Foreign Minister Hor Nam Hong may soon visit North Korea, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said Saturday.
"Hor Nam Hong met with Hong Ki Chol, the new ambassador of North Korea at the ministry on January 13. The two sides discussed a possible visit by Hor Nam Hong to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the future," a statement said.
Koy Kuong, the spokesman of the ministry, could not be reached to confirm a date for the possible visit.
The ministry said that as Asean chair, Cambodia would make efforts to improve the relationship between Asean and North Korea.
At a meeting in Siem Reap earlier in the week, Asean foreign ministers agreed that Cambodia should try to organize bilateral talks between South and North Korea and revive the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula.
